L-Citrulline and Circulation: What Vigorus's Blend Can and Can't Promise
Quick answer
L-citrulline is the first ingredient in Vigorus's 570 mg proprietary blend. The body turns it into arginine and then nitric oxide, which helps blood vessels relax. Studies used about 3 to 9 grams a day. The label does not say how much citrulline each capsule holds, so no circulation effect can be promised.
What is L-citrulline, and why is it in Vigorus?
L-citrulline is an amino acid. Your body makes some of it, and watermelon is a well-known food source. It sits first in the Vigorus proprietary blend, which the label lists as 570 mg per capsule.
Makers of men's formulas like it for one reason. It feeds the pathway that makes nitric oxide, a gas that helps blood vessels widen. That link to blood flow is why the Vigorus sales page mentions circulation.

What the label line shows
The blend line names six ingredients: L-citrulline, L-carnitine, pine bark extract, maca root extract, grape skin extract and saffron stigmas extract. It gives one total, 570 mg. It does not give the amount of each.
How does L-citrulline connect to blood flow?
Citrulline works through a short chain of steps. The body turns it into another amino acid, arginine, and arginine is then used to make nitric oxide.
Many makers choose citrulline over plain arginine for this reason. It is often described as a steadier way to feed the same pathway, though the label gives no dose to test that idea against.
You swallow citrulline
It is absorbed from the gut into the blood.
The kidneys convert it
Much of it becomes arginine, another amino acid.
Arginine feeds nitric oxide
Cells lining blood vessels use arginine to make nitric oxide.
Vessels relax
Nitric oxide signals the smooth muscle around vessels to relax, which lets blood flow more easily.
How much L-citrulline did the studies use?
Studies on citrulline and exercise used about 3 to 9 grams a day (NIH ODS). That is 3,000 to 9,000 mg, taken as a single ingredient.
Results were mixed even at those doses. A 2022 review that pooled many trials found no clear benefit for aerobic exercise performance (Viribay et al., 2022). Most of this research looked at workouts, not at sexual health or daily circulation in older men.
| Source | Citrulline amount | What it tells you |
|---|---|---|
| Study doses (exercise research) | About 3,000-9,000 mg a day | The range researchers tested on its own |
| Whole Vigorus blend | 570 mg total, six ingredients | Smaller than the low end of the study range |
| Citrulline in Vigorus | Not published | Only a part of 570 mg |
| Share of the low study dose | Under 19%, even if the blend were all citrulline | 570 divided by 3,000 |
The math is simple. Even if every milligram of the blend were citrulline, one capsule would give about a fifth of the lowest study dose. And the blend also holds five other ingredients.
How much L-citrulline is in Vigorus?
The label does not say. Vigorus uses a proprietary blend, which lets a maker list a total weight without breaking it down.
Blend ingredients are usually listed from most to least by weight. Citrulline comes first, so it is likely the largest share. That still leaves it well under one gram per capsule.

What you can verify on the label
- Serving size: 1 capsule, 30 servings per bottle.
- Vitamin B3 (as niacin) 20 mg, 125% DV, and zinc (as zinc oxide) 11 mg, 100% DV.
- Proprietary blend 570 mg, Daily Value not established.
- Other ingredients: hypromellose, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide.
You can read the full panel on the Vigorus Supplement Facts page and a plain-English walk through each ingredient on the ingredients page.
What do niacin and zinc add to Vigorus?
Niacin and zinc are the two ingredients with printed amounts. Both sit at sensible, label-verified levels.
Niacin is vitamin B3. The 20 mg dose is under the 35 mg upper limit for adults, and flushing usually starts at about 30 to 50 mg of nicotinic acid (NIH ODS). Zinc at 11 mg matches the daily need for adult men, well below the 40 mg upper limit (NIH ODS).
- 20 mgniacin per capsule, 125% DV
- 11 mgzinc per capsule, 100% DV
- 570 mgblend total, amounts not published
Neither nutrient is a circulation ingredient in the way citrulline is. They round out the formula with amounts you can check. If you also take a multivitamin, add up your niacin and zinc so you stay under those upper limits.
What claim does the Vigorus sales page make about circulation?
According to the sales page, Vigorus is made to support libido, circulation and healthy testosterone within the normal range. Those are the maker's words. They are not results from a study of this capsule.
No trial on the finished Vigorus formula has been published. So the fair reading is this: the blend contains an ingredient linked to blood flow, in an amount the label does not disclose.
Pros
- Citrulline has a clear, well-studied link to the nitric oxide pathway.
- It is listed first, so it is likely the largest blend ingredient.
- Niacin and zinc amounts are printed and sit at sensible levels.
Cons
- The citrulline amount is not published.
- The whole 570 mg blend is below the lowest study dose of citrulline alone.
- Study results were mixed even at 3-9 g.
How can you judge any circulation formula?
Use the same short checklist for Vigorus and any other product. It takes a few minutes and keeps you focused on facts you can check.
Hidden drugs are a real problem in this category. Our post on hidden drugs in men's supplements shows how to check a product, and the batch check page explains the lot number on your bottle.
The other five blend ingredients have their own research picture. Read what the research on pine bark, maca and saffron says for the rest of the blend.
Who should ask a clinician before taking Vigorus?
Anyone on blood-pressure medicine, blood thinners or nitrates should show the label to a clinician first. Citrulline and pine bark both touch circulation, and nitrates act on the same nitric oxide pathway.
The label also says Vigorus is not for anyone under 18. Take one capsule a day and do not go over it.

L-citrulline and Vigorus: common questions
How much L-citrulline is in one Vigorus capsule?
The label does not say. Citrulline is one of six ingredients that share a 570 mg proprietary blend, and the amount of each one is not published.
Does L-citrulline raise nitric oxide?
The body converts citrulline to arginine, and arginine is used to make nitric oxide. That pathway is well known. Whether a small amount inside a blend changes nitric oxide in a meaningful way has not been tested for this formula.
Can I take extra citrulline powder with Vigorus?
Ask a clinician first, especially if you take blood-pressure medicine or nitrates. Adding more of an ingredient that touches circulation is a question for someone who knows your health history.
Is Vigorus a substitute for a prescription?
No. Vigorus is sold as a dietary supplement, not as a drug. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
Why does citrulline come first on the blend list?
Blend ingredients are usually listed from most to least by weight, so citrulline is likely the largest share. Even so, the whole blend is 570 mg, which is still far below the grams used in studies.
